Thursday Dharma Study

We will explore the chapter for Koan contemplation on our True Nature. Our scripture study will be on Chapter 7 – The Principle of the Nature. 

All are welcome!

  • 10-11:15 AM – In-person at the Chapel Hill Temple

  • 7-8:15 PM – Online via Zoom (contact us to receive the Zoom link: rev.shaun.song@gmail.com)

If you can’t attend the sessions, you can still study with us:

  • Read and reflect on one verse each week.

  • Practice SaKyong Meditation by writing a verse by hand daily or weekly.

  • From your self-study and contemplation, feel free to share any reflections or questions with the Reverends anytime or through this document: Commentary on Chapter 7

Saturday 10 AM Meditation

Join us for this weekly service, which includes several forms of meditation practice, such as:

  • Qigong movement

  • Silent sitting (about 30 minutes)

  • Sutra chanting

  • Prayer

  • Sound bath meditation

Please plan to arrive by 9:50 and stay until the end to honor our shared practice.

[Ongoing] Tuesday Evening Meditation (7:30 - 8:30 PM)

We gather on Tuesday evening in person and via Zoom. This practice includes stretching, sitting, lying down, and chanting. Enjoy the soft chi energy of the evening which supports our meditation in silence and peace. To receive a Zoom link, please email wontempleNC@gmail.com.

  • Please wear loose-fit clothing and clean socks

  • Your donations are appreciated!

If you practice from home…

Wear comfortable clothing. Make your home feel like a meditation room with soft light, sitting in a chair or on the floor. Placing candlelight in front of you can be a good ritual for evening meditation.

You may dim the light and sit a little distance from your computer if that is more relaxing, although we encourage you to turn on the video so that we can feel one another’s presence. Thank you for practicing with us!

With open hearts and minds, we explore each chapter of the book “Many Voices, Many Insights.” Every Thursday, we read, contemplate, and discuss its teachings together. This book is a collection of dharma talks by members of our own sangha, so this study will be meaningful in a unique way.
