Rev. WonGong So (Won: “Circle” + Gong: “True Void”) was ordained in 1994 as a Won-Buddhist Priest. She completed her novice and undergraduate training and her graduate/internship experience in Korea, majoring in Won-Buddhist religious studies.
She served in the Gang-Nam Temple in Seoul for three years before moving to the US in 1997, where she was assigned to the Rockville Temple in Maryland.
She completed her Master's in Social Work at the University of Maryland in 2002. Currently, WonGong is the head priest at the Won-Buddhism Temple in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. There she develops and leads meditation programs and short- and long-term retreats, bringing cultural and spiritual enrichment to the community and beyond. In particular, she has led cultural exchange programs for Korean children and youth.
WonGong enjoys sharing the blessings of dharma practice with others and gives lectures on Won-Buddhism and meditation workshops at Duke, UNC, and other educational institutions. She has served in interfaith programs both in the US and internationally and also provides services as a therapist in social work for children and their families.

We are happy to share that a wonderful new reverend (Rev.
G. Hyun Lee) who was assigned to our Temple has arrived.
Rev. G. Hyun was ordained in 2006 as a Won-Buddhist Priest. Upon completing her novice training at the Philadelphia Won-Buddhist temple and the Swaziland Won-Buddhist temple, she completed her undergraduate training at the YoungSan University (South Korea) and her graduate studies at the Won Institute of Graduate Studies in Philadelphia, USA.
She served in the Ko-Heung Temple and the Joong-gu Temple in Korea for four years , and she is pleased to have the opportunity to work in our Temple. She likes sharing teachings about mind practice, bringing more mindfulness and compassion into our daily lives. Rev. G. Hyun recently started taking classical guitar lessons. She also enjoys cooking and mountain climbing.
